Luke 24:38

Luke 24:38- "Why are you troubled" He asked them.  "And why do doubts arise in your hearts?"

If you look at this verse alone and not with those surrounding it you don't realize that in the passage Jesus had just risen and the reality of this fact is why he asked this question.  He asked those who he revealed himself to "Why are you troubled and why do doubts arise in your hearts?" when they were frightened that he was alive after having been crucified days before.  This verse is one that when used by itself it is taken out of context but if you look at the verses around it you can see that Jesus might ask us the same question.  Although he is asking them "Why are you troubled?" because they are frightened by the sight of him being alive I could imagine him asking us "Why are you troubled?" because I have risen and have already won the victory!!! Why do you worry? Why do you question? Why do you have doubts? Jesus has risen and He is ALIVE.  He overcame death and the grave.  When we place our lives in His hands we have nothing to fear!  Life may not be perfect and we WILL fall on hard times, times that will grow our character (Romans 5:3-4), but He has already won and with Him we will not lose.  So friends, there is no reason to fear or doubt because when you are a daughter of the Almighty God He has your back!  Have a blessed week and a Happy Halloween!

  1. Jamie, this was great! So uplifting! "Life may not be perfect and we WILL fall on hard times, times that will grow our character (Romans 5:3-4), but He has already won and with Him we will not lose." - So true! We often wonder what is going on in the hard times, but God is at work doing a greater work in us! Thank you for this reminder! I needed it today. Love, Sue Molitor (OBS Leader)
